Mitchell is the cousin of Lea Salonga, the famous actor in musical theater and singer. Mitchell was a student at Rockridge Secondary School before moving on to West Vancouver Secondary. As she grew older she worked with various modeling agencies all over the world. Following trips to Barcelona, Bangkok and Hong Kong she went back to Toronto and studied acting.
