Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, according to American standards, in the child prodigy category. This was a natural trait for an Irish-born child surrounded by talented parents and a loving, supportive family. Maureen made her entrance into the sanctity of family on August 17 1920, located in Ranelagh (a suburb within Dublin), Ireland. Her mother, Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin company, and also had shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer team. Maureen was the second child of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen enjoyed playing sports as a kid and excelled in sports. Additionally, she had a gift to act. She was awarded nearly all Feis Award for Theatre and Drama the country could offer. In the age of 14she was admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing as well as classical theater.
